MI vs RR Match 42 HIghlights:
Youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal stole the show in the 1000 game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he smashed a scintillating 124 off just 62 which included 16 fours and eight maximums but it went in vain as Rajasthan Royals (RR) got defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by a margin of six wickets in Match 42 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Jaiswal, in his 32 innings, hit his maiden century as RR also posted their highest total of 212/7 against MI in the league.
Talking about how the special landmark match unfolded, skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bat first. Jos Buttler played scratchy innings of 18 off 19 before getting dismissed to veteran Piyush Chawla. But his opening partner Jaiswal was at his absolute best right from the start. The 21-year-old left-handed batter went from strength to strength as he held one end to reach the three-figure mark. The rest of the other players failed to cross the 20-run mark but RR did manage to post a massive total on the board. Riley Meredith had a forgettable outing for his spell of 1/51 (4).
In reply, captain Rohit Sharma, on his 36 Birthday, failed to contribute as he fell cheaply for just three off five. Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan struck 28 off 23 while Cameron Green amassed 44 off 26. Suryakumar Yadav looked at his threatening best as he hammered 55 off just 29 with eight fours and two maximums. Tilak Varma remained not out on 29 while Tim David hammered an unbeaten 45 off just 14 with two fours and five sixes. With 17 needed off the final over, David slammed three maximums off the bowling of Jason Holder to seal a thrilling victory for his side.
