Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL 2023:
Chennai Super Kings defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by eight runs in their Indian Premier League match on Monday. Set an imposing target of 227, RCB looked on course until the departure of Glenn axwell (76 off 36 balls) and skipper Faf du Plessis (62 off 33) in quick succession. The duo added 126 runs for the third wicket to raise hopes of an RCB victory.
Earlier, CSK scored 226 for six after being asked to bat first. Opener Devon Conway struck 83 off 45 deliveries and was involved in a 74-run partnership for the second wicket with Ajinkya Rahane (37 off 20 balls).
Later, Conway added 80 runs for the third wicket with Shivam Dube, who blazed away to a 27-ball 52 with the help of five sixes and two fours.
It is CSK who has won the game but both sides have plenty to ponder upon. RCB’s bowling once against was not up to the mark CSK on the other hand despite creating enough opportunities their fielding has let them down. With the bat for RCB, it has been usual suspects Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik with a cameo at the end almost did the job. Apart from them none of the others raised their ands to contribute. MS Dhoni too would be going back to his drawing board and reassessing his side’s bowling and fielding performance. However, having said all that it has been a terrific punching and counter-punching from two heavyweights of the IPL. The fans have been thoroughly entertained by the clash.
